Hello! We have made it to Honduras and are a week into living in the jungle!
We are working with a ministry called Catracho Missions where we are partnering with a Honduran/Argentinian missions team. It has been so fun and challenging to live in a tent (rain has not yet gotten in woohoo!!). It has also been fun and challenging to communicate and build relationships with people, even when we don’t speak the same language very well!
This past week we have spent learning about and easing into the work we will be helping with.
They host a woman’s ministry which includes learning life skills (sewing and cooking by hand) as well as learning about women in the Bible. The ministry is also preparing to clear fields on the side of a mountain to grow vegetables for the community to eat and sell. They also host a kids ministry which takes place on Sundays.
This experience so far has been so beautiful in the fact that everywhere I turn are beautiful mountains, trees and lots of coffee beans! Not having electricity has been a lot easier than I thought, the harder things have been not being able to love on the dogs (there are 2 I have gotten permission to pet and love on), crossing my fingers that I don’t wake up to spiders on my face, and eating the chickens that I’ve been playing with.
Today we are adventuring in the city, which we hope to do a few times but it is a trek to get up and down the mountain!
In these next few weeks we’ll start interacting more with the community. So some prayer requests would be for relationships to be built, for abundant harvests in the fields, safety and health, and for us to find a way to warm up our showers!
Madison Allison!!
I am so glad that you are having a wonderful time, God is so good!! I loved reading through your update on what has been happening. I loved the picture you put on Facebook of you and the little boy!! I am sad that you can’t pet all of the dogs either, but I’m glad you have the two. Praying for you and your requests! Love you so so much
Yay, Madison! We’re so thankful that you got to Honduras safely. We’ve been thinking about you and praying for you often! The mission on the mountain is going to be so amazing, praying for those relationships to be built. Some of those cold showers may even feel good some day….so proud of you for sacrificing for Jesus. Love you!
