I am currently in the Malealea Valley in Lesotho!
The past week has been full of morning jogs, lemonade packets, bonding with our four guard dogs, hikes to surrounding villages, soaking in the views, learning to cook, a long day of horseback riding, and much more!
This month I am with an organization called Africa for Jesus.
A typical ministry day here in the valley looks like getting up for a morning jog, then going on a morning walk with our host family. Around 9am, we begin our walk to one of the surrounding villages to do house visits. This mostly consists of sitting with a family or just one person and reading them scripture. As many of them have lost their sight, cannot read, or don’t own a Bible. We offer encouragements to fellow believers, as well as receive encouragements. We’re also evangelizing to non- believers. They have so much excitement to hear the word of God! We hike home for lunch and after begin working around the property we’re living on. Sometimes this means cleaning out a pit of water full of algae, or scooping up cow poop to take back to the garden, or weeding in the garden- just depends on the day! The past few days we have been working with students that have just arrived for the discipleship program the organization provides. This includes biblical teachings, learning to process and grow as individuals, and gaining resources to take back to their home and community. Most of these resources revolve around learning more about farming and building tools to use!
I’m LOVING my time here in Lesotho. We have amazing hosts that care about us and give us some good belly laughs. We have two more weeks before heading to South Africa. I’m finding a balance of soaking up my time right where I am and getting excited for home.
As you know, I’m working on funding and preparing for my next trip while I’m on the field! I have a deadline of $2500 by October 31.
